General Position Description: Works among a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for providing bio-psycho-social psychiatric evaluation, treatment planning, and medication management to a range of clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Skills/Job Knowledge/Abilities: Must have broad psychiatric knowledge around development, substance use, and trauma as they relate to mental health. Knowledge in the appropriate therapeutic interventions, including psychopharmacology. Working knowledge of medical evaluations for physical disease as it contributes to mental health and referral as appropriate. Ability to conduct a psychiatric risk assessment and perform emergency evaluation and treatment recommendations for patients in crisis. Must be attentive and responsive to monitoring practices (labs, AIMS, etc.) related to safety and health plan requirements and agreements. Must have familiarity with practice related state and clinic policies and procedures. Able to establish and maintain a team atmosphere of communication and collaboration for all that reach out to the Department. Must be self-directed and be sensitive to cultural and linguistic diversity. Must be able to remain calm, non-defensive with a supportive attitude during stressful, potential crisis, and crisis situations. Must be able to work in an extremely stressful environment where there are considerable mental and emotional demands. Must be able to remain flexible and reprioritize according to the changing demands of the day. Excellent customer service in stressful situations. Maintain professional appearance, communication, and behavior. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Possess a high level of computer proficiency.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation): Normal office and medical office environment with multiple interruptions in person and through telehealth. Must be able to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed. Interacts with employees and members of the public daily. May lift normal office equipment and materials up to 25 lbs. Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms, and to assess the well-being of members. Able to communicate verbally with members and emergency personnel as needed for daily operations. Hearing ability for communication in person, telephonic and through telehealth. Manual dexterity for typing, writing, and assisting clients. Able to stoop, squat, reach, pull, push, stretch, ascend and descend stairs, stand and sit for long periods of time. Must be available for phone consultation for urgent situations (as determined by covering BHMPs) around active members Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. May be required to work additional hours or days depending on circumstances.
MD/DO specific:
· Provide coverage for specific processes related to Court Ordered Treatment or other urgent member needs.
· Must be available to share on call coverage for afterhours/weekend/holidays as shared by all practice physicians.
