Job Summary: As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will focus on providing high-quality psychiatric care to the patient population through comprehensive evaluations, creating treatment plans, medication management, and providing therapy interventions. A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will work within the team care-based model to ensure full wrap around access and care is provided to patients.
Essential Functions:
Conduct through psychiatric evaluations, including medical and psychiatric histories, mental status examinations, and review psychological factors to determine accurate diagnosis.
Develop individualized treatment plans, including medication management, therapy and other interventions, tailored to the specific needs of each patient.
Prescribe, monitor and adjust psychiatric medications as necessary, while educating patients about their medications and potential side effects.
Provide evidenced-based individual psychotherapeutic interventions to address patient’s needs.
Collaborate with primary and behavioral health providers, to ensure integrated care and address patient’s holistic needs.
Assess and intervene in psychiatric crises or emergencies, making referrals for inpatient care when necessary.
Educate patients on their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures to support overall wellness.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and documentation requirements.
Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity when providing care to a diverse patient population.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of mental health services offered by Marillac Health.
Participate in bi-monthly team meetings to assist clinical team with any patient panel needs.
Additional duties as assigned
Psychiatric Mental Health Registered Nurse or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Masters of science in Nursing, with a psychiatric behavioral health emphasis, from an accredited college or university.
Current and unrestricted license
Colorado Prescriptive privileges
Unrestricted DEA license
Current BLS certification
Preferred:
2 years’ experience working with diverse and underprivileged populations
Bilingual
