You will:
· Monitor patients and report adverse reactions to medications or treatments to the Providers/ RN.
· Share information with Registered Nurses and Doctors to help determine the best course of care.
· Measure vital signs such as height, weight, body temperature, blood pressure, pulse and breathing.
· Update medical records based with information collected.
· Triages patient phone calls using established protocols.
· Responsible for performing clinical tasks under direct supervision of a physician, such as rooming patients, checking vital signs, drawing blood, changing dressings, and authorizing prescription refills.
· Execute standing orders, i.e. administration of oxygen, EKG, IV, finger sticks, etc. when necessary and appropriate.
· Collect samples for testing.
· Maintain CPR certification.
· Clean and sterilize instruments; inventory and order medical supplies and materials from Central Supply office.
· Performpre-physician screenings based on patient history and needs by obtaining personal medical data, including health history, current medications, reason for the visit, etc. and recording in medical record.
· Be involved in patient education, including explaining procedures and testing to patients.
· Assist with insurance forms, pre-authorizations and referrals, as needed.
· Provide direct or indirect patient care, requiring simple to complex nursing knowledge and skills.
· Give injections, dress wounds.
· Establish IV access and inform RN of IV medications to be given to patient.
· Other duties as assigned.
You need:
· Minimum of 2 years health care or medical office experience preferred.
· Able to multitask in a fast paced environment.
· High school education or GED equivalent required.
· Appropriate NYS LPN license required, IV certification preferred.
