Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $105.99 - $137.30 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications - Two years of recent (within the past 5 years) of adult PACU experience in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting
- Requires an On-Call commitment
- Knowledge of airway management, anesthesia recovery, and pain management
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Department DescriptionThe Perianesthesia Care Units at Mt Zion include the Pre-operative (prep) and Post-Anesthesia Care Units (PACU). The team of perianesthesia specialty nurses provides dynamic, compassionate care for a wide variety of surgical patients for adults and adolescents (13 and up) in the ambulatory care setting.
In preparing patients for surgery, we assure their readiness and provide preoperative teaching for patients and their families. The priority postoperatively is to physiologically stabilize patients, provide innovative pain management strategies, and integrate family-centered care. An interdisciplinary team of nurses, surgeons, specialty physicians, anesthesiologists and respiratory therapists work to initiate the recovery from surgery.
The perianesthesia nurses work collaboratively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. In addition to the Patient Care Manager and other Assistant Unit managers within the perioperative areas to continuously improve patient safety, efficiency and patient satisfaction.
The 23-Hour Short Stay unit provides quality care and patient satisfaction for those patients that require outpatient extended care. Having this modality of service allows more flexibility for different procedures and improve operational efficiency and clinical excellence to the ambulatory surgery center. The nurses in this unit work collaboratively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to provide an integrated family-centered patient care experience.
