Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

Department DescriptionC5 is comprised of a 16-bed pediatric transitional care unit (step-down unit) and 28-bed pediatric medical surgical unit that provides comprehensive inpatient care to children and families experiencing a wide variety of acute and chronic medical conditions or recent surgery. Patients range in age from neonates to adolescents. Nurses encounter a fast paced, vibrant environment and opportunities to learn many complex nursing skills.
UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco acute care nurses possess exceptional assessment and prioritization skills as well as a tremendous amount of flexibility and compassion. This unit offers the opportunity to work with many dynamic health care teams as well as the opportunity to solidify nursing practice. The unit supports 17 pediatric subspecialties, including immunology, GI, renal, neurology and neurosurgery, general major abdominal surgery and liver and kidney transplant.
